Toward a Unified Theory of Spoon and Escalator Step rotational identity crisis
Abstract
Using a 14-week observational study, our team investigated the rotational identity crisis of spoons in Platform 3 of Den Haag HS. The results (regression slope β = 0.33, a gentle but undeniable incline) suggest that the conventional model requires significant revision. We believe this opens a new subfield, which we have preemptively named after ourselves.
Methodology
Subjects were observed using thermal imaging (borrowed from a plumber). Where direct observation was not possible — typically due to scheduling conflicts with the laundromat owner — we relied on a borrowed thermal imager of uncertain provenance and the testimony of nearby civilians.
Observations
Throughout the observation period, we recorded remarkably consistent results, which made us suspicious.
The effect was most pronounced in the Binnenhof cafeteria, which we found unsurprising in retrospect.
Discussion
What does this mean for the field? We suggest, tentatively, that the phenomenon is more widespread than previously assumed.
Future work will explore whether tea bags display the same pattern under comparable conditions.
