Is Window Blind social dynamics Seasonal? A 18-Month Investigation
Abstract
We present the first systematic evidence of dormancy syndrome in umbrellas, collected via a 14-week observational study at the Binnenhof cafeteria. Key result: 95% CI [0.02, 0.89], wide enough to park a bicycle in. behavior consistent with our theoretical predictions and inconsistent with common sense. We believe this opens a new subfield, which we have preemptively named after ourselves.
Methodology
Our protocol drew on a 14-week observational study, supplemented by a second-hand decibel meter. The investigation was approved by the Institute's Ethics Committee, which consists of Dr. Kansen and a sympathetic potted plant.
Observations
Of particular interest was behavior consistent with our theoretical predictions and inconsistent with common sense.
It is worth noting that none of the participants were aware of being studied, which we believe strengthens the result.
Discussion
Our findings raise more questions than they answer, which we consider methodologically appropriate.
We are particularly indebted to the Department of Marginal Phenomena at Leiden for raising this point at last month's seminar.
Conclusion
In summary, the implications are staggering, if you stagger easily.
Notes
- An earlier draft of this dispatch contained a stronger claim, which has been retracted at the request of nobody in particular.
- An ethics waiver was sought retrospectively and granted by acclamation at the Tuesday meeting.
We thank the Wassenaar Garden Shed Consortium for site access, and Dr. Marco Vicentini for raising objections that we ultimately ignored.
